CACC Notes
Caldwell - Senior guard Jean Georges made 16-of-17 from the charity stripe to finish with a season-high 27 points in a 69-56 non-conference win over Adelphi University on Jan. 30. After scoring a team-best 19 points against Felician on Feb. 1, Georges now has scored 1,279 points in his career, placing him fifth on Caldwell's all-time scoring list.
Felician - Felician has won three consecutive games for the first time this season. Junior G/F Jason James had 18 points all season before scoring 19, including seven in overtime, in Thursday's victory over Caldwell. James made 5 of 7 three-point attempts after entering the game 4 for 24 on the year from long range. Both Golden Falcon victories last week avenged early-season road losses. Post had won a school-record eight consecutive games, and Caldwell four in a row, before losing to Felician. Felician improved to 7-1 at home (losing to Holy Famly, 79-69, on Jan. 4). Senior center Michael Pierrot averaged 23.1 points and 10.3 rebounds, with seven double-doubles, in nine January games.
Philadelphia - Head Coach Herb Magee became the all-time leader in NCAA Division II coaching victories with the overtime win over Wilmington College, earning his 829 win. Senior center Christian Burns continues his march toward his 1,000th career collegiate point at Philadelphia University and needs just 44 to reach the milestone. Burns would become the 44th men's player in school history to reach the plateau and would do so in less than two seasons with the Rams.
Post - Head Coach Mike Donnelly won his 50th career game on Saturday against USP at the Drubner Center, as the Eagles extended their home winning streak to 10 games. Junior Arthur Robertson notched his fifth double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 rebounds in the 72-63 win over USP. Sophomore Jesse Iyalekhue had 11 points and junior Peter Lawal added 10 to help the Eagles improve to 11-4 in CACC play. On Tuesday the Eagles were tripped up on the road at Felician falling, 92-89, behind a career-high 31 points, including nine in the final minute of play, from Robertson. Post had six players in double figures. Post is back in action on Saturday afternoon with a road game at Goldey-Beacom.
USP - The Devils are ranked 13th nationally in scoring defense (61.8 pts. Allowed /gm) and 54th nationally in field-goal % defense (41.9%) in the latest NCAA statistics release.
