FELICIAN'S PIERROT NAMED MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Michael Pierrot of Felician College has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 11th. The Rookie of the Week award has been given to Adrian Miles of Goldey-Beacom and Omari Knox of Bloomfield.
Pierrot, a 6-10 senior center from Melivlle, NY, averaged 25.3 points, 14.3 rebounds and 5.3 blocks per-game in a 2-1 week for the Golden Falcons. He registered a double-double in all three contests and shot 56.6-percent (30-of-53) from the field. He tallied 31 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks at Wilmington, 26 points, 15 rebounds and eight blocks versus Goldey-Beacom and 19 points and 14 rebounds at Holy Family.
Miles and Knox share Rookie of the Week honors after putting up similar numbers last week. Miles, a 6-0 freshman guard from Washington, DC, averaged 21.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.6 steals in a 2-1 week. He poured in 33 points and added 10 rebounds at Felician and had 22 points and five rebounds versus Philadelphia.
Knox, a 6-2 sophomore guard from Brooklyn, NY, averaged 22.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per-game in a 1-1 week. He posted 22 points against both Philadelphia and USP and pulled down 13 rebounds against the Devils.
Honorable Mention
Sheanan Martinez, Nyack - Averaged 21.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists in a 1-1 week.
Derek Savage, Goldey-Beacom - Posted averages of 22.6 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per-game in a 2-1 week.
CACC Notes
Caldwell - The Cougars have won seven of their past nine games, including Saturday's 67-66 triumph over Holy Family in the George R. Newman Center. Caldwell made 52.1 percent of its field goal attempts against the Tigers, marking the seventh time the Cougars have shot better than 50 percent from the floor this season.
Felician - Felician looks to move over .500 overall for the first time this season on Thursday at Nyack. Senior center Michael Pierrot and senior forward Sydir Mitchell combined for 57 percent of the Golden Falcons' points and 53 percent of their rebounds in last week's three games. Mitchell played the entire 55 minutes of his team's triple-overtime victory over Goldey-Beacom on Feb. 5.
Philadelphia - Senior center Christian Burns registered his 1,000th career collegiate point with the Rams in a win at Nyack College on February 10th. Burns achieved the milestone in less than two seasons after playing his first two seasons at NCAA Division I Quinnipiac University. In doing so, Burns becomes the 45th men's player in school history to reach the mark. In his team's win at Nyack College, Head Coach Herb Magee is now in fifth-place all-time in NCAA men's basketball history with 831 career coaching victories, moving past former Mount St. Mary's University legend Jim Phelan.
USP - Bill Kurtz became the Devils' all-time three-point field goal leader vs. Bloomfield, passing Joe Miller's (91-95) mark of 253, with four three-pointers vs. the Deacons. With his three ?threes' vs. Dominican on Saturday, Kurtz now has 258 for his career. Eric Cangelosi moved into 9th place on the Devils all-time free throws made list with his six free throws vs. Dominican. Cangelosi now has 368 for his career. Cangelosi also became the 18th player in school history to record 1,000 career points and 500 rebounds, getting his 500th rebound vs. Holy Family. Kurtz also moved into 15th place on the Devils' all-time assist list with 261 for his career. Collin Harrington moved into 11th place on the Devils' all-time blocked shot list with 62 for his career. The Devils ranked 18th nationally in scoring defense (62.7 ppg) in last week's NCAA statistics report. Kurtz ranked 24th nationally in three-point field goals made per game (3.3) and 66th nationally in three-point field goal percentage (40.0%)
