BURNS RECEIVES MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR

NEW HAVEN, CT - Christian Burns of Philadelphia University has been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Dec. 11. Freshmen Steven Cooper of Goldey-Beacom College was honored as Rookie of the Week.
Burns, a 6-9 senior center from Hamilton, NJ, shot 75.6 percent (34-45) from the floor and averaged 26.7 points, 15.0 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in the Rams' 3-0 week, all against conference opponents. He poured in 38 points, 17 rebounds and four blocks and shot 16 for 20 in Thursday's road victory over Bloomfield.
Cooper, a 6-6 freshman forward from Newark, DE, averaged 11.3 points and 6.3 rebounds in helping the Lightning to a 2-1 week. Shot 60 percent from the floor (14-43). Had 13 points and nine boards in a win over Bloomfield.
Honorable Mention
Ron Wyatt, Dominican - Shot 72 percent from the field and averaged 16.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week.
Derek Savage, Goldey-Beacom - Had 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in a win over Bloomfield. Averaged 13.3 points and 8.0 boards in a 2-1 week.
Raheem Scott, Holy Family - Averaged 11.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week.
CACC Notes
Caldwell - Senior G Jean Georges reached the 1,000-point milestone with a three-pointer in the first half of Caldwell's 82-58 victory over Felician on Dec. 5. He is the 13th men's basketball player at Caldwell College to score 1,000 career points. Georges now has 1,050 career points to rank 10th on the Cougars' all-time list.
Post - Post dropped games that it played last week, falling to Pace in New York City, 97-65 and Philadelphia University, 62-61. Playing against the setters in the heart of Manhattan, the Eagles were led by junior Arthur Robertson who had 15 points on 7 of 15 shooting from the field. Robertson also grabbed a team-high six rebounds. The Eagles were edged by Philadelphia despte having four scorers in double-digits. Robertson once again led the way with 14 points on 6 of 11 shooting. Sophomore Omar Robinson netted 12 points on 4 for 6 from the field and three treys in the contest. Sophomore James Lee netted 11 points and junior Peter Lawal chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds. Post returns to action on Dec. 19 when it travels to C.W. Post for a non-conference tilt to close out the first semester.
