CALDWELL'S B.J. SUCHY NAMED MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - B.J. Suchy of Caldwell College has been selected as the Central Atlantic Conference (CACC)Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the weeek ending Sunday, Dec. 3. Omari Knoxi of Bloomfield College has been picked as the Rookie of the Week.


Suchy, a 6-6 junior forward from Ronkonkoma, NY, made game-winning shot at buzzer in victory over Bloomfield. He was named to Commerce Bank Cougar Classic All-Tournament team. Suchy averaged 18.7 points and 7.0 rebounds, shot 61.8 percent from the floor and made 5 of 7 three-pointers in the Cougars' 3-0 week.

Knoxi, a 6-2 sophomore guard from Brooklyn, NY, averaged 19.0 points and 6.3 rebounds in a 2-1 week for the Deacons. He had 17 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Dowling and scored 26 points in a victory over Mercy.

Honorable Mention

Christian Burns, Philadelphia - Averaged 26.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 3.5 steals in a 1-1 week.

D.J. Stanberry, Goldey-Beacom - Shot 55 percent, including 60 percent from long-range, and averaged 22.0 points and 4.0 assists in a 1-1 week.

Prince Jackson, Dominican - Averaged 18.7 points and 7.7 rebounds in a 2-1 week. Recorded a double-double in a win over Goldey-Beacom.

CACC Notes

Caldwell - The Cougars opened conference play with a thrilling 74-71 win over Bloomfield on Nov. 28. Junior F B.J. Suchy nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer to break a 71-71 tie and give Caldwell the victory. Caldwell won both its games at the Commerce Bank Cougar Classic at Caldwell College this weekend, defeating Mercy and Dowling from the East Coast Conference. Senior G Jean Georges was named the tournament MVP, with Suchy joining him on the all-tournament team. Georges has scored at least 20 points in all five games this season. He now has 993 career points, leaving him seven shy of becoming the 13th Cougar to score 1,000 points.

Post - Post started the CACC portion of its season with a 2-1 week. Post had three scorers in double figures in a 70-65 win over Nyack on the road on Nov. 28. James Lee led the wya with 15 points while Gary Schick and Peter Lawal chipped in with 10 points apiece. Post returned home to beat Felician College, 83-78, led by 18 points from A.J. Reitter who shot 3 for 7 from the field, and grabbed 10 rebounds. Arthur Robertson had 15 points and Schick chipped in with 11. Post finished the week with a 75-63 losss on the road to Holy Family. Reitter once again had 18 points, while connecting on five treys and grabbing eight caroms. Lawal was the only other Eagle to post double-digits with 10 points. Post has a pair of games this week, traveling to Pace for a non-conference game on Thursday, and heading to Philadelphia University for a CACC clash on Saturday.

USP - Senior F Eric Cangelosi was named the Philadelphia Area Small College Coaches Association Sam Cozen Player of the Week.
