BURNS NAMED CACC PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR THE THIRD TIME

NEW HAVEN, CT - Christian Burns of Philadelphia University has been named the men's basketball Player of the Week in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) for the week ending Sunday, December 31. Sam Cricelli of Caldwell College has been selected for the Rookie of the Week award.

Burns, a 6-9 senior center from Hamilton, NJ, averaged 20.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per-game while shooting 53.3-percent from the field in three games over the holiday. He tallied 23 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in a win over Southern New Hampshire and added 20 points, 11 boards, two blocks and two steals in a win over AIC. Burns has earned Player of the Week honors three times so far this season.

Cricelli, a 6-7 freshman forward from Brighton, England, averaged 12.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 0.5 blocks and 0.5 steals in a 1-1 week for the Cougars. He tallied 15 points on 7-for-11 shooting and four rebounds in a win over Franklin Pierce. Cricelli has been named Rookie of the week twice in 2006-07.

Honorable Mention

Sydir Mitchell, Felician - Averaged 18.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.0 steal in a 1-1 week.

Raheem Scott, Holy Family - Averaged 16.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in a 1-1 week.

CACC Notes

Caldwell - Caldwell split a pair of non-conference games in New Hampshire before Christmas, falling to St. Anselm College 70-54 on Dec. 20 and defeating Franklin Pierce College 66-63 in overtime on Dec. 21. Senior guard Jean Georges scored all five of Caldwell's points in the overtime period against the Ravens, as the Cougars came back from as many as 17 points down to pick up a Northeast Region win.

Felician - Felician's win vs. St. Michael's at Pace was its first victory away from home this season in eight tries. Senior C Michael Pierrot was held without a blocked shot for the first time this season vs. SMC, but did post 26 points and 14 rebounds.

Holy Family - Holy Family improved to 2-1 against the Northeast-10 with the win over Southern New Hampshire. Holy Family still has not been outrebounded by a team this season, only Saint Rose has tied the Tigers in rebounding during a game

Philadelphia - Senior center Christian Burns had his double-double streak snapped in the Rams' loss to St. Rose as he finished with 17 points and five boards. Burns had opened the year with ten consecutive double-doubles entering the non-conference contest with the Golden Knights. Sophomore guard Mike Dunn had a big three-game stretch for the Rams, averaging 16.0 ppg while shooting 64.0% from the field. For Dunn, his performance also including an amazing 63.2% (12-19) clip from three-point range.

USP - USP has now won three straight games. Bill Kurtz moved into second place on USP's all-time three-point field goals made list with five 3PT FG's over the past two games, giving him 210 for his career.
