CACC SWEEP: BURNS AND LYNCH EARN ECAC DIVISION II BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK ACCOLADES

NEW HAVEN, CT - Christian Burns of the Philadelphia University men's basketball team and Mackenzie Lynch of the Caldwell College women's basketball team have both been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Week for their respective sports, it was announced Tuesday. Both Burns and Lynch earned Player of the Week honors from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) on Monday.
Burns, a 6-9 senior center from Hamilton, NJ, shot 75.6 percent (34-for-45) from the floor and averaged 26.7 points, 15.0 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per-game in the Rams' 3-0 week, all against conference opponents. He poured in 38 points, 17 rebounds and four blocks and shot 16-for-20 in Thursday's road victory over Bloomfield.
Lynch, a sophomore forward from Wayne, NJ, received three awards this week, as she was also chosen Player of the Week from the New York Area Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association.
Lynch led the Cougars to a 2-1 record against three conference foes, averaging 34.3 points and 14.3 rebounds per-game. She capped off an outstanding week with a 44-point, 22-rebound effort in an 82-72 overtime victory over the University of Sciences, last year's CACC Tournament champions. In the win, Lynch made 16-of-22 from the field, including 10-of-11 after halftime, while going a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line.
