DABNEY AND BURNS MENTIONED IN STREET AND SMITH'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL PREVIEW

NEW HAVEN (October 13, 2006) - Bloomfield College senior guard Andre Dabney has been selected as a pre-season Second Team All-American by the 2006-07 Street and Smith's College Basketball Yearbook. Philadelphia University senior center Christian Burns was an honorable mention pick. The publication released its pre-season top-10 poll and a pre-season All-America team on Thursday.
Dabney, a lightning-quick 5-8 guard from Plainfield, NJ, is a three-time, first team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) performer and was the CACC Player of the Year as a sophomore. As a junior last season, he led the Deacons to a CACC regular-season and tournament championship en route to an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Dabney averaged 18.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists per-game and ranked sixth in the CACC in points, second in assists, eighth in free-throw percentage (.792) and first in steals (2.68).
Burns, a transfer from Quinnipiac University, averaged 16.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per-game while shooting 56.9-percent from the field last season as a junior. Burns, who hails from Hamilton, NJ, stood eighth in the CACC in points, first in rebounding, fifth in field-goal percentage, ninth in steals (1.64) and first in blocks per-game last season.
