January 3, 2007

NEW HAVEN, CT - Two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) basketball games have been selected by the NCAA for live broadband streaming through CSTV on Saturday, January 6. Fans will be able to view the Philadelphia University men in a game at Adelphi University at 3:00 pm on Saturday. The women's tilt featuring Georgian Court University at Holy Family University can also be viewed at 2:00 pm. Fans can log onto the website, www.NCAAsports.com/DII to see the games free of charge.

"This is great recognition for our student-athletes to be seen on a national stage," said CACC Commissioner Dan Mara. "It's the first of many enhancements in the new Division II strategic positioning platform and it will greatly benefit every DII Conference."

NCAA Division II recently partnered with CSTV in a three-year regular-season television and broadband package agreement that will showcase Division II football and men's and women's basketball games. Games will be broadcast both on television and via the internet.

Each game should be exciting as both Philadelphia and Holy Family rank first in the CACC standings. The Rams top the men's side with a 4-1 record along with a 9-2 overall mark. The squad is led by 6-9 senior center, Christian Burns, who currently leads the CACC in points (22.6), rebounds (12.5), field-goal percentage (.585) and blocks per-game (2.82). The Rams also boast the league-leader in assists in freshman guard Russell Frederick (6.27).

The Rams received votes in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Top 25 Poll after giving #20 Saint Rose all it could handle in a 63-62 loss on Dec. 30.

Holy Family is 4-0 in conference play, 7-1 overall and received votes in the latest USA Today/ESPN Women's Top 25 Poll. The Tigers feature a balanced attack, as seven players average between 5.0 and 11.8 points per-game. Sophomore forward Melissa Brooks leads with 11.8 ppg, while junior guard Kelly Killion checks in with 11.4 ppg. Last year's CACC Co-Player of the Year, senior center Meg Bauer, averages 10.5 ppg and is second in the CACC in blocks (1.62) and fifth in rebounding (9.6).

Georgian Court is currently 2-8 overall this season and 1-5 in conference play. The Lions are led by junior guard Stephanie Longdo and sophomore guard Ashley Lobbato, who both average 10.6 ppg. Longdo stands second in the CACC with 5.50 assists per-game, while Lobbato ranks 10th with 7.7 rebounds per-contest.
