BLOOMFIELD WINS THIRD CONSECUTIVE CACC TOURNAMENT TITLE

March 4, 2006

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Bloomfield College men's basketball team defeated Dominican tonight, 70-64, to earn its third consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Championship at Bobby Morgan Arena on the USP campus. With the win, the Deacons (22-9) received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament. The field for the event will be announced Sunday evening.

Senior guard Daniel Terrell spearheaded the Deacon attack tonight with 31 points and seven rebounds. Terrell, who was named the tournament Most Valuable Player at the conclusion of the game, went 11-for-17 from the field and 2-for-4 from 3-point range. For the tournament, Terrell averaged 25.3 points per-game. Senior center Shelton Powell added nine points and 11 rebounds for the victors, while junior guard Andre Dabney added 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting.

Senior forward Tahiem Stewart led Dominican (14-17) with 16 points and nine rebounds, while junior forward Prince Jackson added 11 points and four boards.

After leading by five at the half, 36-31, Bloomfield extended its lead to 10, 45-35, early in the second half for its largest edge of the game. However, Dominican went on a 5-0 run mid-way through the second stanza to tie the game, 53-53, on a 3-pointer by guard Richard Fegins. Bloomfield responded and went on a 9-0 run over a span of 4:23 to take a 62-53 lead with 4:06 on the clock. Dabney and Terrell started the spurt, as Dabney converted a jumper and a lay-up, followed by a Terrell triple, in a span of just over a minute.

Bloomfield shot 49-percent (24-49) from the field in the game and forced 18 Charger turnovers.
