PHILADELPHIA - Holy Family University has named Ryan Tozer as an assistant coach for men's basketball, head coach Alfred Johnson announced Wednesday.

"I have known Ryan since his high school days at Friends' Central and I have watched him grow as a young man," Johnson said. "We are excited to add him to our fine staff and we look forward to his energy as a coach and a recruiter."

Tozer comes to Holy Family from La Salle University, where he served as video coordinator for the men's basketball team. His duties included film review with the coaches and players, and film scouting of upcoming opponents along with on the floor participation in team practices. The Explorers finished with a record of 18-10 in the Atlantic 10, which was good enough for third place.

He also had a stint as an assistant coach at Interboro High School, where he participated in pre-season drills and conditioning with the boys basketball program.

His playing experience includes a fine career at Eastern University in St. David's, where he finished as the school's second all-time leading scorer with 1,268 career points. He also set the school record with 269 three-point field goals in his career. He was a three-time all-conference selection in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference and a four-time All-Conference Academic selection. He graduated in May 2005 with a degree in Elementary Education.

He was also a three-time All-Conference selection at Friends' Central School in Wynnewood, where he scored 1,100 points.
