DABNEY NAMED ALL-MET DIVISION II PLAYER OF THE YEAR; SIX CACC PLAYERS EARN ALL-MET HONORS

April 11, 2006

NEW HAVEN, CT ? Bloomfield College junior guard Andre Dabney was named the 2005-06 All-Met Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Year by the National Invitation Tournament and the Met Basketball Writers Association.

In addition to Dabney, five other student-athletes from Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schools earned All-Met honors. Bloomfield's Danny Terrell and Caldwell's Jean Georges were first team selections and Manny Perez of Caldwell, Prince Jackson of Dominican and Clayton Barker of NJIT were all second team picks.

A junior guard from Plainfield, N.J., Dabney led the Deacons with 18.9 ppg and 83 steals. His 2.7 steals per-game led the CACC and ranked 14th in Division II. Dabney reached the 1,500 career-point plateau in just his junior year and was named to the All-CACC first team for the third time in his career. Dabney was the league's sixth-leading scorer and he ranked second in assists (4.06).

Terrell was the fourth-leading scorer in the conference with an average of 20.9 ppg. He was a first team All-CACC pick and was named the MVP of the CACC Tournament. His .867 free-throw percentage led the league and he was also first in 3-point field-goals, connecting on 99 from beyond the arc (3.67 per-game).

Georges led Caldwell in scoring with 17.3 ppg, which ranked seventh in the CACC. A second-team All-CACC selection, he also ranked among the conference leaders in steals (sixth), three-point shooting percentage (seventh), three-pointers made (ninth) and free throw shooting (15th).

Perez became the 12th Cougar to score 1,000 career points, reaching the milestone in Caldwell's final game of the season. Perez, also a second team All-CACC choice, averaged 16.1 points and a team-best 6.3 rebounds per-contest to rank 11th and 15th in the CACC, respectively.

Jackson was a first-team All-CACC pick after averaging a team-best 19.1 ppg, which ranked fifth in the CACC. He also ranked ninth in field-goal percentage (54.1) and fourth in 3-point percentage (41.4).

Barker was a first team All-CACC choice and ranked third in the conference in scoring (21.9), 12th in assists (3.19), fifth in steals (2.04) and fourth in 3-pointers made per-game (2.58).

The award winners will be honored at the 73rd annual NIT/MBWA college basketball awards dinner on Wednesday, April 19, in East Rutherford, N.J.
