WILMINGTON GOLF WINS DOWLING FALL INVITATIONAL; OTT TAKES HOME INDIVIDUAL TITLE

RIVERHEAD, NY -- Freshman Daniel Ott shot a 36-hole total of 139 (71-68) to help lead the Wildcats of Wilmington University to a first place finish at the Dowling College September Shootout. Post University finished in second place and Nyack College earned a fifth place finish. Seven Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) institutions took part in the event.

Wilmington posted a team score of 298 in the first round on Sunday, and followed that with a 300 in the second round on Monday at the Long Island National Golf Links in Riverhead, New York. The ‘Cats finished first among the 15 teams in the two-day, 36-hole tournament played at the par 71, 6,945 yard course.

After Ott's medalist win, fellow freshman Paul Tighe came into the clubhouse carding a 152 (74-78) and finished tied for eighth. Freshmen John Perrine (154 - 76-78, 19th place), Jeff Whiteside (155 - 77-78, 23rd place), and senior Matt Hall (157 - 81-76, 34th place) rounded out the finishers for Wilmington.

Post had two golfers finish in the top 10 in Gavin Wilson, who finished third after firing 74 in both rounds, and David McGregor, who tied for eighth after carding rounds of 78 and 74. As a team, the Eagles opened the tournament with a 306 on Sunday and followed with a 302 for a total of 608.

Nyack was led by Joe Lee's fourth-place finish behind a two-round score of 149 (71, 78). The Warriors shot rounds of 301 and 318 as a team.
