THREE CACC GOLFERS TABBED PING ALL-REGION
NEW HAVEN, CT (June 16, 2009) - Three golfers from Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) institutions have earned Division II PING All-Region status in an announcement made by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Post University's Jamie Blake and Lee Wanklyn earned All-East Region honors along with Dominican College's AJ Lee.
Throughout the 2008-2009 season, Blake and Wanklyn played in Post's No. 1 and No. 2 positions and were both named to the CACC All-Conference team. Furthermore, Blake was honored as the CACC Player of the Year in a vote conducted by the head coaches. At the 2009 NCAA Super Regional Tournament, Blake, a senior from Arbroath, Scotland, placed 15th and was only seven strokes behind the winner. He had the best finish of any CACC golfer.
Wanklyn played well throughout the season and earned CACC Player of the Week accolades once, as well as leading the team at the Peter King Memorial Tournament after shooting a pair of 75's. Wanklyn, a junior from Berkshire, England, placed fourth at the CACC Championship after firing rounds of 71 and 72.
Lee, a senior from Nanuet, NY, was the top individual out of four qualifiers from the East Region to compete at the NCAA Regional Tournament in West Virginia. For the three-day tournament, Lee shot a combined score of 234 (+18) to place him in a tie for 23rd place. He was the third finisher among CACC golfers at the event.
