POST AIMS FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE CACC GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

April 10, 2008

NEW HAVEN, CT-The Post University golf team will be aiming for its third consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship, as the 2008 tournament will be held on Monday and Tuesday, April 14-15. The 36-hole event will be played at Back Creek Golf Club in Middletown, DE. The action will begin at 10:00 am both days. Post won last year's event by just one stroke, 311-312, over Goldey-Beacom College. The event was cut to only one round last year due to inclement weather.

Post returns three of its four scorers from last year's championship squad and the Eagles also welcome back head coach Pete Stevens. Stevens was not able to coach Post last year because he was serving his country with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan. Returning to lead the Eagles is sophomore Lee Wanklyn, the 2007 CACC Rookie of the Year. He finished third overall at last year's tournament. Also returning is senior Calum Malcolm, who tied for 15th last year and junior Jamie Blake, who tied for 20th. Post is coming off a first-place finish at the 16-team Peter King Memorial Championship on Sunday and Monday, April 6 and 7. Freshman Ryan Phillip captured individual medalist honors.

Goldey-Beacom, which won three straight CACC Championships from 2003 to 2005, returns two scorers from last year's event in seniors Justin Grossman and Mark Agnew.

Dominican College finished right behind Post and Goldey-Beacom last year with a total of 316. The Chargers return senior Brian Mackey and junior A.J. Lee, who tied for fourth place last year.

Nyack College finished in fourth place last season with a score of 317 and will be led by the 2007 Individual Medalist, senior Jonathan Carr. Carr shot a 72 last year to win the event by one stroke. Also returning for Nyack is senior Andrew Barijikian, who tied for ninth place at last year's championship.

Holy Family University welcomes back two All-CACC performers in sophomore John Radick and senior Ed Szambelak, who tied for fourth place last year. Felician College sophomore Joe Peters is another returning All-CACC player after tying for ninth last year. The top-10 finishers at the event earn All-Conference Accolades.
