POST GOLF WINS ECAC DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIP

October 2, 2006

SYRACUSE, NY - Lloyd Notley fired an even-par 71 to finish with a combined two-round score of a four-under 138, individual medallist honors at the 2006 ECAC Division II Men's Golf Championships, at the Drumlins Golf Club, Monday afternoon.

"The course was difficult because you had to think your way around it," Notley said following his victory. "My putting was the best it has been in a long time and that helped me a lot this weekend. This win does a lot for our confidence, and we will go to these next couple tournaments looking to continue to win."

Notley, who shot a four-under 67 in the opening round on Sunday, fired an even par-71 on Monday to claim his first individual title.

As a team, Post won its first ECAC Division II Championship, with a two-round total of 595, on the 6,213-yard par-71 course. The Eagles finished ahead of Pace who carded a 601, and Bryant who finished with a 602. Host LeMoyne finished with a 604, followed by Assumption (606), Goldey-Beacom and Mercyhurst (607), and New Haven and West Chester (608).

"Lloyd played really well this weekend, and the rest of the guys just grinded it out and did what they needed to do," Interim Head Coach Tommy Dorrso, Jr. said. "Although we might not have played up to our potential the guys went out there and did what they needed to do."

Lee Wanklyn who fired a 73 in the opening round on Sunday, carded a 79 on Monday to finish with a two-round score of 152, finishing in a tie for 23rd overall. Calum Malcolm who finished with a 74 on Sunday, recorded a 79 on Monday, finishing tied for 27th overall with a combined 153.

Jamie Blake matched his Sunday score with a 77, finishing with a two-round score of 154, which was tied for 33rd overall. Mark Colangelo finished four shots better than Sunday with a 77, to finish the tournament with a 158, and tied for 57th.

Notley finished ahead of Tyler Johnson of Assumption (142), Mike Philipp of Bryant (145), and Dan Psinakis of Pace (145), and Brian Mackey of Dominican (147) to round out the top five spots individually.

The Eagles return to the links on October 15 for the St. Thomas Aquinas Invitational.
