GOLDEY-BEACOM AND POST WRAP UP PLAY AT NCAA GOLF REGIONAL

WHEELING, WV - Goldey-Beacom College finished fifth and Post University placed eighth at the 2007 NCAA Division II Northeast Region Golf Tournament as play concluded at Speidel Golf Club in Wheeling, WV, on Wednesday afternoon. Le Moyne College took team honors and will advance to the National Championships. Two golfers from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference finished in the top-5 in Dominican junior Brian Mackey and Goldey-Beacom senior Steve Cutler.

LeMoyne's Dan McCarthy was the top finishing individual in the event after a three round total of 225, finishing two strokes ahead of Bentley's Matt Freedman who finished at 227. They were followed by Patrick Cibirka of St. Thomas Aquinas (228), Mackey (229) and Cutler (230). Mackey was playing in the tournament after qualifying as an individual.

The Lightning, who won last year's regional tournament on the same course, were led by Cutler, who shot rounds of 76, 74 and 80 for his total of 230. The Lightning finished with a three-day combined score of 970 (+118). Le Moyne shot a 949 (+97) to take the championship. Goldey-Beacom's other golfers were Mark Agnew (T-19, 241), Justin Grossman (T-28, 248), Mike Williams (33rd, 251) and Rob Hunt (T-36, 257).

Post was led by freshman Lee Wanklyn, who carded a total of 237 to tie for 11th place. Wanklyn shot rounds of 80, 77 and 80. The Eagles finished with a combined 982 (+130). The other four Eagles to participate were Lloyd Notley (14th, 238), James Blake (26th, 245), Josh Ralton (40th, 262) and Calum Malcolm (T-42nd, 266).

The final team standings are below.

4. Bentley - 965 (+113)

5. Goldey-Beacom - 970 (+118)

6. St. Thomas Aquinas - 971 (+119)
