WILSON , NC ? Six Barton College golfers finished among the top eight as the Bulldogs dominated the Lee Nissan-Barton Intercollegiate Golf Tournament on Monday and Tuesday at the Wilson Country Club.

The Bulldogs won the 36-hole event for the fourth straight year, cruising to a 19-shot victory over N.C. State ?s junior varsity and a 23-shot margin over the Barton B team.

Barton A fired a 313-303-616 on the par 72 layout. Monday?s round was played in near-freezing, wet conditions while Tuesday?s temperatures reached about 50 degrees. NCSU finished at 318-317-635 and Barton B was at 321-318-639. Mount Olive surged to fourth at 331-313-644, followed by Campbellsville (KY) at 325-321-646.

The field included 12 teams.

Barton B senior Joe Dvozenja, who had the 18-hole lead, fired his second straight 74 to finish as medalist at 4-over par 148, two shots ahead of Barton A sophomore Jon Wetton (77-73) and NCSU?s Andrew Byrd (75-75).

Barton seniors Bryan Overby (78-74-152) and Ross Gilbert (78-76-154) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Barton B freshman Joe Elwell tied for fifth at 75-82-157 with Dave Croteau of Post University (CT), who fired a 79-78-157.

?The conditions were hard and there were a lot of high scores," said head coach Pete Stevens. "The guys came out and played well considering this was the first event of the spring."

Post's Calum Malcolm shot rounds of 89-84, while Tommy Dorso (Waterbury,

CT) finished with 89-82.

The Eagles will be back in action this weekend at The Bradford Creek Invitational.
