GBC?S TOBIASON DOMINATES THE WEEK THAT WAS IN CACC GOLF

April 11, 2005

Mike Tobiason

WATERBURY, CT- Mike Tobiason (Wilmington, DE) of Goldey-Beacom College was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men?s Golf Player of the Week Monday. Tobiason was the medallist in both events he competed on the week.

Tobiason won the Peter King Memorial, with rounds of 77-78 for a nine over total of 155. Tobiason braved rain and wind to win in dominating fashion. No other player had two rounds in the 70?s for the event. He won the tournament and in the process bested golfers from 10 other schools. Tobiason?s second challenge wasn?t quite as hard, but provided the same result. He carded a 72 in the victory over 23 other competitors in winning the Holy Family Invitational.

Post University finished third in the Peter King Memorial Tournament. Goldey-Beacom ended tied for fifth. Dominican completed play in ninth place in the 11-team field, which included six of the region?s top eight teams.

At the invitational hosted by Holy Family, the host Tigers wound up tied for first with Goldey-Beacom. Both teams came in at 318. Wilmington ended up at 331, good for fourth.

Wilmington played in the Neumann College quad-match and finished in third. Alex Brown of Wilmington College carded a 78. Brown shot a 73 at the Holy Family Invitational to tie for second. In his third event of the week Brown fired a 79 at the USP Quad Match. John Carr, last week?s player of the week was the medallist in the event with a 74. Nyack won the event with a 330, while Wilmington ended at 336.

Brown and Post University?s Dave Croteau (Terryville, CT) were named Honorable Mention this week. Croteau finished fifth at the highly competitive Peter King Memorial with rounds of 84 and 80.

Post is ranked third in the Division II Northeast region and GBC is eighth. Croteau is the third-ranked golfer in the region, while Tobiason is fifth.
