Goldey-Beacom Golf Team Places Fourth at Eagle Shootout

WILMINGTON, DE ? The Goldey-Beacom College golf team captured fourth place at the Eagle Shootout Saturday afternoon at Lyman Orchards Golf Club in Middlefield, NJ.

The University of New Haven won the team competition with a final score of +37 (613), edging host Teikyo Post University, who finished two strikes back at +39 (615). Dowling College finished in third at +56 (632), followed by Goldey-Beacom college at +60 (636), Adelphi University at +67 (643), Pace University at +77 (653), Queens College (NY) at +94 (670), Wilmington College at +136 (712) and Nyack College at +165 (741).

Tom Dorso of Teikyo Post finished at +2 with a score of 146 to finish first overall, followed by Brent Silano of New Haven, who finished at +4 (148), and Mike McKenna of New Haven, who finished at +6 (150).

Junior Mike Tobiason (Wilmington, DE) was the top golfer for the Lightning, the defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champions, as he finished +11 over par with a total of 155 to finish in a tie for sixth place. He shot a 79 in round one and followed with a 76 in round two.

Goldey-Beacom junior Nick Nardo (Newark, DE) and sophomore Steven Cutler (Kennett Square, PA) finished tied for 14th place at +15 as Nardo shot an 80 in round one and a 79 in round two while Cutler shot 79 in round one and 80 in round two. Additionally, David Pfotzer (Newark, DE) finished tied for 26th at +21 (82, 83) while senior Michael Clair (Landenberg, PA) finished tied for 28th at +22 (85, 81).

The Lightning return to action September 27 when they take on Wilmington College at Frog Hollow Golf Club.
