Goldey-Beacom Defeats Holy Family, USP in Golf

PHILADELPHIA, PA ? The Goldey-Beacom College golf team defeated both Holy Family University and University of the Sciences in Pennsylvania Tuesday afternoon at Frankford-Torresdale Country Club in Philadelphia.

The Lightning finished at +51 (330) to capture the tournament crown, 31 strokes ahead of second-place Holy Family at +81 (361) and 44 strokes ahead of USP at +94 (374). Steve Brenner of Widener finished first overall with a score of 75 on the par 70 course.

Junior Mike Tobiason (Wilmington, DE) was the top finisher for Goldey-Beacom, tying for second place with a round of 80 (+10). Freshman Mark Agnew (Newark, DE) finished in third place with a score of 82 (+12) while senior Michael Clair (Landenberg, PA) finished tied for fifth place with a score of 83 (+13). Senior Chris Ciupinski (Ocean Township, NJ) and sophomore Steve Cutler (Kennett Square, PA) both finished in a tie for seventh place at 85 (+15) to cap the afternoon for the Lightning.

The Lightning return to action on October 17 when they compete in the inaugural Goldey-Beacom Invitational at Haterfeld National Golf Course.
