POST WOMEN'S XC DEFEATS CONCORDIA; MEN FALL BY ONE POINT

MIDDLEBURY, Conn.-Three Post University women's cross country runners took the top three spots, as the Eagles defeated Concordia College 23-38 on a sunny Monday afternoon at Hop Brook Lake Park. Tim McCarthy finished first for the Post men's team, as Concordia won by one point, 27-28.

Jamie Salvesen won the 3.1-mile women's race, in a time of 25:26, and was followed by teammates Quistara Letona who finished second overall with a 25:34. Vanessa Lagares finished third with a 26:16.

Jenna Salvesen finished fourth on the team and fifth overall with a 27:03, and Emma Everest finished fifth on the team and sixth overall with a 27:58 to round out the scoring for the Eagles.

On the men's side, McCarthy finished the five-mile course in 31:28. Matt Milhouse was second on the team and third overall with a 36:05. Claudel Jean-Louis was the third Post runner, finishing seventh overall with a 40:58.

Ryan Strauss finished fourth on the team and eighth overall with a 41:35, and Richie Pierro was fifth on the team with a time of 43:00.

Both teams will conclude the 2006 season this weekend at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships at Goldey-Beacom College.
