HFU UPENDS PHILADELPHIA, 5-4, IN A NON-CONFERENCE TENNIS MATCH

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. ? Holy Family won three singles matches and two doubles matches at the Tigers (12-2) defeated Philadelphia University 5-4 in women's tennis action on Tuesday.
Despite the two schools being conference rivals, this match did not count in the conference standings.
In singles play, Rupali Parekh (Fr./Huntingdon Valley, PA/Lower Moreland) moved her record to 13-1 on the year as she won 6-1, 6-2 over Katie Straquatanio at number two flight. Quena Borres (So./Little Neck, NY/Mamaroneck) defeated Trish Ubil in three sets, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 at number three singles.
Finally, Shakir Willett (So./Bellport, NY/Bellport) defeated Rebekah Elliott at number four singles 6-3, 5-7, 7-6.
In doubles, Parekh teamed up with Lauren Neill (Jr./Smith, AL/Smith Station) won at number one flight 8-6 over over Elliot and Lori Peck. At number two flight, Borres and Willett defeated Christina Kettle and Maddie Smith 8-2.
Holy Family will host the upcoming CACC Team Championships this weekend in Media. The Tigers are the top seed in the playoffs.
