WILMINGTON VOLLEYBALL UPENDS HOLY FAMILY, 3-1

PHILADELPHIA * Wilmington (Del.) rallied to win the last three games of the match as the Wildcats (5-17, 5-4 CACC) defeated Holy Family (7-13, 4-5 CACC) 3-1 Monday evening in conference play.

Game scores were 30-23, 28-30, 23-30 and 28-30. The match was a mirror image of the last time these two teams met. On Tuesday, September 12, the Tigers lost the first game and rebounded to win the next three.

Katie Mason had 20 kills for Wilmington, while Kristin Wiedeman added in 17. Cheyann Gilroy had 52 assists, which was a match high. The Wildcats also got 28 digs from Shannon Freel, Wiedeman had 26 digs and Gilroy chipped in with 20 digs.

For the Tigers, Jen O'Connor (So./Wilmington, DE/St. Elizabeth) had a match-high 25 kills as she took 71 swings at the ball and made just five errors. Emily Culp (Gr./Bensalem, PA/Nazareth Academy) had 14, while Kelly Nepi

(Sr./Wilmington, DE/St. Elizabeth) had ten.

Shannon Whalen (Fr./Philadelphia, PA/John W. Hallahan) had a team-high 32 assists, while Michelle Copelli (Jr./Fort Washington, PA/Upper Dublin) had 21. Kelly Cummins (So./Philadelphia, PA/John W. Hallahan) had a team-high and match-high 35 digs, while O'Connor had 32.

Holy Family travels to Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday.
