HFU VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS NYACK, FALLS TO MERCY

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. ? Holy Family split two games during a tri-match with Nyack and Mercy Saturday afternoon.

In the opener, the Tigers improved to 5-6 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with a 3-0 win over Nyack. Game scores were 30-18, 32-30 and 30-27.

In the nightcap, Holy Family (8-15) fell to Mercy 3-2. Game scores were 24-30, 30-18, 28-30, 30-23 and 12-15.

In the first match, Jen O'Connor (So./Wilmington, DE/St. Elizabeth) had a

match-high 18 kills, while Emily Culp (Gr./Bensalem, PA/Nazareth Academy) had 11. Defensively, Kelly Nepi (Sr./Wilmington, DE/St. Elizabeth) had 18 digs, followed by O'Connor with 16.

Shannon Whalen (Fr./Philadelphia, PA/John W. Hallahan) had 25 assists for the Tigers.

In the second match, O'Connor finished with 24 kills as the Tigers had three players with double-digit kills as Culp had 15 and Nepi added in 14.

O'Connor had 28 digs, while Kelly Cummins (So./Philadelphia, PA/John W. Hallahan)

had 26.

Whalen finished the second match with 36 assists, while Michelle Copelli (Jr./Fort Washington, PA/Upper Dublin) had 20.

Holy Family will travel to Georgian Court on Tuesday.
