GEORGIAN COURT STAYS ATOP CACC STANDINGS WITH WIN OVER WILMINGTON

Lakewood, NJ ? Georgian Court University registered its 13th Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory against Wilmington College by defeating the Wildcats 3-0 (30-19, 30-21, 30-16). The win separates the Lions from #2 Philadelphia University (18-2, 11-1 CACC) by two matches. The Lions improve to 16-10 overall and 13-1 within the CACC while the Wildcats drop to 8-20 overall and 8-7 in conference play.

The Lions were swinging away at the net having five Georgian Court players registering an over .300 attacking percentage, including Freshmen Janelle Murdock (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) and Joann Zayas (Naranjito, PR/Naranjito) each registering an attack percentage of .375.

Murdock tallied 13 kills in the win and Zayas added 7 kills, 2 service aces and 8 digs. The Lions offense was also led by Angie Casado (Brick, NJ/New Jersey Institute of Technology) who had 15 kills giving her a total of 370 for the season. Claudimary Rivera (Carolina, PR/Maria Auxiliadera) was strong in front of the net again for the Lions registering 1 solo block and 3 block assists. Rivera improves her total number of blocks this season to 71.

Wilmington College's Kristin Wiedeman led the Wildcats with 9 kills and 9 digs. It was Kristie Shropshire, however, who dug up 17 Lion attacks in the losing effort.

Georgian Court faces Dominican College (4-18, 4-10 CACC) Saturday afternoon. This will be the first meeting for the Lions and Chargers this season. The Lions are looking to pick up their 5th straight win and 14th in conference play.
