GEORGIAN COURT FINISHES CACC WITH 15-1 RECORD AFTER WIN OVER USP

Lakewood, NJ ? The Georgian Court University Volleyball team defeated the University of the Sciences (8-16, CACC 5-10) in the final regular-season Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match 3-0 (30-24, 30-25, 30-18) Monday night. The Lions improve to 18-10 overall and 15-1 in conference play and are now tied with Philadelphia University for 1st place in the conference standings. A coin toss between Philadelphia University and Georgian Court will determine playoff seeds.

Georgian Court was led by three Lion attackers who tallied a game-high 8 kills in the win; Janelle Murdock (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional), Angie Casado (Brick, NJ/Brick), and Joann Zayas (Naranjito, PR/Naranjito). Zayas led the group with a .348 attacking percentage and 11 defensive digs.

Leading the Lion defense was libero Rebecca Walczak (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East). Walczak dug 27 Devil attacks which was three shy of match-leader Claire Tauschek of the University of the Sciences, who registered 30 digs. Walczak leads the Lions with 363 digs for the season, while Tauschek picked up her 1,000 career dig in the first game.

Lisamary Figueroa (Toa Alta, PR/Bayamon Military Academy) and Heather Walker (Hanover, Ontario/John Diefenbaker) led Georgian Court's offense tallying 13 and 15 assists, respectively. Walker leads the Lions with 417 assists, while Figueroa trails with 388.

Georgian Court faces Adelphi University Saturday afternoon for their final, regular-season match. Adelphi University 12-7 overall and 5-3 in East Coast Conference play. Led by Lauren Flanagan, who registered 22 kills, the Panthers defeated Molloy College 3-1 Thursday night.
