BLOOMFIELD VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS USP

Bloomfield, NJ – The Bloomfield College volleyball team came away victorious over the visiting Lady Devils of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USP) 3 games to 0. The Lady Deacon fans were treated to their 6th straight win at home, all of which come at the hands of conference opponents, pushing Bloomfield's conference record to 8-2 with a 9-5 record overall. USP drops to 4-5 in the conference, 7-11 overall.

The Lady Deacon's were paced by Sonia Perez (Hackensack, NJ), with 44 assists and 10 digs, giving her a double, double for the match. Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) standout, Ursula Pereira (Newark, NJ) also scored a double, double with 15 digs and a game high 20 kills. Nilmara Zanette (Newark, NJ) rounded out the Lady Deacon effort with a game high 22 digs.

Bloomfield jumped out in Game 1 taking control to win 30-19. The Lady Devils rallied in Game 2 going up 7-3 on the Lady Deacons early in the match. Bloomfield settled in and pulled out Game 2, 30-20. The Lady Deacons closed out the match with a 30-25 win in Game 3.

The Lady Devils were led by Kayleen Piszczek (Sinking Spring, PA) with 21 assists. Claire Tauschek (Verona, WI) and Lindsey Wenderoth (Owings Mills, MD) chipped in 15 and 13 digs respectively for USP in the loss.

Bloomfield College now continues the heart of its' conference schedule as they take to the road to face Post University, Tuesday, Oct. 10th, and Caldwell College, Thursday, Oct. 12th, before returning home next Saturday, October 14th to face Holy Family at noon.

Bloomfield College will also be celebrating Midnight Madness next Saturday with the day's festivities kicking off with the volleyball game.
