WILMINGTON BLANKS UDC IN MEN'S SOCCER

NEW CASTLE, DE – The Wildcats of Wilmington College shut out the visiting Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia, 2-0 in rain-soaked, non-conference men's soccer action on Tuesday afternoon at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex.

Wilmington scored their first goal of the game when freshman forward Sargbah Tarpeh finished a pass from senior midfielder Joe Galasso. The Wildcats added their second and final goal a short time later when freshman Dave Dease scored off an assist from sophomore midfielder Nick Rotella.

Junior goal keeper Dan Mangat made four saves between the pipes for the Wildcats, en-route to his fourth shut-out victory of the season. Boyan Yankulov notched four saves for the Firebirds. Wilmington was out-shot by UDC 11-10, but held the 9-5 advantage in corner kicks.

With the win, the Wildcats improved to 11-4-3 overall, while the Firebirds dropped to 2-10 on the season. Wilmington returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they close out their regular season by hosting the Marauders of Millersville University in a non-conference game beginning at 1:00 PM. The Wildcats will honor seniors Matt Andrews, Greg DiDiego, and Joe Galasso prior to the game.
