DOMINICAN EDGES NYACK IN DOUBLE OVERTIME

Nyack, NY * Dominican College defeated Nyack College this afternoon 4-3 in double overtime in CACC men's soccer action. With the win Dominican remains undefeated in conference play at 7-0 and 9-3-2 overall. Nyack falls to 4-11 overall and 1-6 in the CACC with their 6th one goal loss on the season.

Nyack got on the board first in the 18th minute on a goal from Sammy Oduro (Toronto, Canada). He headed the ball in off of a corner kick from Stephen Terpstra (Pompton Plains, NJ). Just over a minute later Joseph Ruesgen (Campbeltown, Scotland) scored on a header from a Ryan Clancy (Pine Bush, NY) corner kick. Clancy would score on an assist from Ruesgen before the half to bring the score to 2-1 in Dominican's favor.

Dominican started off the scoring in the second half right away as James Hamilton (Renfrewshire, Scotland) scored off of a rebound from Clancy to put the Chargers up 3-1. Nyack would answer quickly with a goal of their own just 2 minutes later. Greg Allen (Mayfield, NY) headed the ball in for the Warriors off of another corner kick by Terpstra to bring the score to 3-2. In the 62nd minute Ryan Gomas (Falcon,CO) kicked the ball in from outside the 18 yard line when the Dominican keeper was

caught out too far to break up a play. Gomas' goal tied the game at 3.

The game went into overtime and Nyack saw themselves at a disadvantage right away as Sammy Oduro picked up his second yellow card on the day on a questionable call. Nevertheless Nyack had to play a man down during the overtime period. The first overtime ended with the score still knotted at 3. In the 104th minute Ryan Clancy broke through the defense on a long ball from Ruesgen. Clancy got by Nyack keeper Jack Carillo (Cornwall, NY) and scored on an empty net for the game winner.

Nyack is back in action on Saturday October 14th when they host #2 in the nation Dowling College at 2:00 pm.
