HOLY FAMILY MEN'S SOCCER ROLLS PAST MERCY

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. ? Holy Family scored four straight goals over a span of 54 minutes as the Tigers (9-6-1) defeated Mercy College (4-5-1) 4-2 in a non-conference men's soccer matchup Wednesday afternoon.

Sean Hordijenko (Fr./Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) had a goal and two assists, while David Laurich (Fr./Warminster, PA/Archbishop Wood) had a goal and assist as the Tigers improved to 6-3 in non-conference games.

After Mercy scored in the seventh minute to take a 1-0 lead, Holy Family tied the score at 1-all at 28:20 when Matt Stricker (Sr./Philadelphia, PA/Northeast Catholic) scored on a Hordijenko corner kick.

Hordijenko assisted on the second goal just 1:30 later when Matt Kocher (Jr./Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) scored on a one-timer.

Laurich scored his lone goal of the game 45 seconds before the half, on an assist from Steve Kientzy (Jr./Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) for a 3-1 Tiger halftime lead.

Holy Family added its final goal of the game in the 82nd minute when Hordijenko scored on a low cross off of a Laurich pass.

Mercy would add one final goal at 83:40 for the final scoring margin.

Holy Family, who outshot Mercy 15-13, got three saves from Patrick Becker (So./Philadelphia, PA/Holy Ghost) in net.

The Tigers host Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in an important Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup.
