WATERBURY, Conn.-Post University Director of Athletics Anthony Fallacaro announced that Mike Padovani has been named assistant baseball coach. Padovani joins the Eagles coaching staff after finishing his collegiate career for Post last spring.

"Mike was an outstanding student-athlete and he is going to be an even more outstanding coach," Post University baseball Head Coach AJ McNamara said. "His knowledge of the game and his leadership skills will be a big plus for our baseball program."

Padovani was a captain in his senior season, where he hit .296 with 32 runs batted in, and 20 runs scored. He finished his career eighth on the school's all-time single-season runs batted in list.

Playing last season at shortstop for the first time in his collegiate career, he helped the Eagles to a .941 fielding percentage, the second-best in school-history.

On the mound last season, he was 1-0 with three saves in five relief appearances for the Eagles. He had a 2.35 earned run average in seven and two-thirds innings and recorded 11 strikeouts and five walks.

The Eagles have already begun preparations for the 2008 campaign with the start of fall practice last week. The fall slate will be highlighted by the Green and White intra-squad World Series.
