FELICIAN BASEBALL SIGNS PAIR OF TWO-WAY THREATS

RUTHERFORD, N.J. - High school seniors Shane Junger of Waretown and Vic Monteagudo of Palm Springs, Fla., have signed national letters of intent to continue their baseball careers at Felician College, Golden Falcon head coach Chris Langan announced today. Both players committed to Felician during the NCAA's recently-concluded early signing period.

Junger a pitcher/third-baseman at Southern Regional of Manahawkin, is on the Northeast Follow List of the national scouting service Perfect Game USA. This summer, he was named a Cape May County American Legion all-star, and played in the Don Mattingly U-17 World Series with the AAU New Jersey Terminators. He was then selected to the ABC Collegiate League's fall all-star team. Junger, who also plays football and basketball for the Rams, intends to enroll in Felician's pre-physical therapy program.

Monteagudo was a first-team all-conference selection as a junior at John I. Leonard High. The prior year, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound pitcher/catcher was the most valuable player of the district playoffs. He is also a member of the Baseball Parks of America entry in the World Wood Bat Association. The native of Cuba expects to study physical therapy.

"Shane and Vic are extremely talented and should keep us in contention for a conference title for years to come," said Langan, entering his fifth season. "They will bring much-needed power to the middle our line-up as well as power arms to our pitching staff. These young men were getting very serious consideration from Division-I programs and I am happy that they believed in our vision of becoming a national contender."

Felician, an NCAA Division II member, tied for second place in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in 2007, reaching its second consecutive league tournament. The Golden Falcons had an overall record of 23-26.
