RUTHERFORD, N.J.-Felician College junior Vinnie DiBenedetti of Forked River has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Player of the Week, the CACC announced Monday. Later on Monday, he was honored by the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association (NJCBA) as its Division II/III Player of the Week.

DiBenedetti, a 6-foot, 170-pound centerfielder, batted .500 (13 for 26) and slugged .761 with three triples, four runs scored and six runs batted in during a 3-4 week for the Golden Falcons. On Thursday, he went 5 for 6 with four RBI as the Golden Falcons split a CACC home doubleheader with Post University, including two RBI triples in his team's 8-1 Game 1 victory. He had five multi-hit games on the week, during which he raised his batting average 58 points.

DiBenedetti is batting .276 on the year for the 22-20 Golden Falcons. Starting 39 games--all but seven using wooden bats -- he has amassed a CACC-high six triples, scored 24 runs, driven in 15, and stolen 13 bases. A 2005 graduate of Lacey Township High, DiBenedetti joins Mike Libretta (Mar. 17) as CACC Baseball Players of the Week from Felician in 2008. He is the first Golden Falcon non-freshman to be honored by the NJCBA this year.

Also on Monday, Felician sophomore pitcher Al Jardine of Neptune was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll. More information is available at www.caccathletics.org/sports/bsb/2007-08/News/WR.bsb.4-28-08. The NJCBA is comprised of the baseball-playing four-year colleges in New Jersey.
