SAXON, SANGIULIANO AND ZUDONYI EARN BASEBALL WEEKLY ACCOLADES

NEW HAVEN, CT - Adric Saxon of Caldwell College has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 20. Albie Sangiuliano of Felician College was the choice for Pitcher of the Week, while fellow Golden Falcon, Mickey Zudonyi, was tabbed Rookie of the Week.
Saxon, a 6-1 sophomore outfielder from Coral Springs, FL, hit .478 (11-23) with a .913 slugging percentage in a 5-1 week. He hit three home runs, drove in 11 runs and scored six times for the week. He went 4-for-4 with two home runs, four runs and four RBI in the second game of a double-header against Wilmington. He also homered against C.W. Post and registered four multi-hit games.
Sangiuliano, a junior righty from Flemington, NJ, went 2-0 on the week and did not allow an earned run in 10.1 innings of work. He surrendered only seven hits, one unearned run and notched nine strikeouts.
Zudonyi, a freshman 2B from Holmdel, NJ, hit .519 (14-27) in a 6-1 week with nine runs scored, nine RBI and three stolen bases. He also had one double and one triple. He went 4-for-6 with two runs and an RBI against USP on Tuesday. He recorded two hits in five of his seven games.
Honorable Mention
Phil Messerian, Nyack (So., RHP, Fairlawn, NJ) - Fanned 16 batters in a victory over Philadelphia. Allowed only three hits in 7.0 innings of work.
Zach Mentzer, Philadelphia (Sr., SS, Gettysburg, PA) - Hit .429 in six games with eight RBI, six runs and three SB's.
Tommy Mejia, Dominican (Sr., RHP, Brooklyn, NY) - Earned a win against Post by allowing six hits and one run in 7.0 innings of work. Struck out 10 batters.
Willie Mann, Dominican (So., INF, Patterson, NY) - Hit .538 in a 4-1 week with eight runs scored and three RBI.
CACC Notes
Caldwell - The Cougars went 5-1 last week to improve to 12-4 in the conference and 22-14 overall. The team scored 15 runs in the first and last victories of the week, beating regional foe C.W. Post 15-3 before closing out the week with a 15-0 win over Wilmington. Sophomore Adric Saxon went 4-for-4 with two home runs, four runs scored and four RBIs in the triumph over Wilmington on Apr. 19.
Felician - The Golden Falcons have won four consecutive games and 8 of their last 9. Head coach Chris Langan recorded his 100th career victory in Game 1 against Chestnut Hill on Saturday. Langan, who has had his twin brother, Steve, as his third base/hitting coach for all five seasons at Felician, is 102-127. On Apr. 14, junior P/IF Albie Sanguiliano earned his first career pitching victory at USP, becoming the second Golden Falcon non-freshman to do so in the last two weeks. Sophomore P Al Jardine picked up his first collegiate win on April 12 in Game 2 at Bloomfield. In Sanguiliano's win, freshman RP Joe Brescia broke the school record for single-season saves with his sixth. In game 2 against Chestnut Hill on Saturday, Brescia again saved a Sanguiliano win. His seventh save is a new CACC NCAA-era record. In the same game, senior C/1B Chris Flynn became the third active Golden Falcon to reach 100 career base hits. Freshman 2B Mickey Zudonyi has eight multi-hit games in his last 10 starts. He is 20 for 40 in that stretch, raising his batting average from .222 to .306. The Golden Falcons have played 10 games in the last nine days, including eight on the road and nine within the CACC. They are 8-2 in that period, with both losses by one run.
USP - Michael Curry broke the Devils single season record for hits with his 47th of the season, coming in the first game against Post on April 20. Curry's 17-game hitting streak ended on Sunday against Post ? the streak was the longest in school history. Curry has reached base in 25 consecutive games ? a school record and has been on base in 33 of the Devils 34 games this year.
