MENTZER, OKONIEWSKI, NOONAN AND BELLO EARN CACC BASEBALL WEEKLY AWARDS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Tyler Mentzer of Philadelphia University has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 13. Jimmy Okoniewski of Wilmington University and Kyle Noonan of Philadelphia were tabbed co-Pitchers of the Week, while Hector Bello of Felician College garnered Rookie of the Week accolades.
Mentzer, a sophomore 2B from Gettysburg, PA, hit .577 (15-for-26) in a 6-2 week with a .686 on-base percentage, 12 RBI and 11 runs scored. He also hit two home runs, four doubles, and stole three bases. Mentzer collected multiple hits in five games, including three, 3-hit performances. He also had three, 3-RBI games.
Okoniewski, a senior lefty from Wilmington, DE, earned two victories last week, including a gem against Nyack as he fanned 16 batters and allowed only five hits and one run, while not walking a batter, in 9.0 innings of work. Noonan, a junior right-hander from Morristown, NJ, also had two wins and allowed one earned run and seven hits in 16.0 IP. He struck out 10 batters.
Bello, a freshman shortstop from Miami, FL, hit .458 (11-for-24) in seven games with one home run, four RBI, four runs scored, two doubles and two stolen bases last week. He closed the week with three hits and two RBI against both Bloomfield and Post.

Tommy Maloney, Dominican (So., INF, 6-1, Massapequa Park, NY) - Hit .483 in eight games with nine RBI, five runs, six doubles and one home run.
Cody Holliday, Wilmington (Jr. OF, 6-2, Havre de Grace, MD) - Hit .429 in eight games with six RBI, 11 runs scored and five stolen bases.
Nick Riker, Felician (Sr., RHP, 6-2, Highlands, NJ) - Won two games for the week and allowed only two runs in 10.0 IP.
CACC Notes
Caldwell - The Cougars went 3-3 in conference games last week, defeating Chestnut Hill and losing to Philadelphia in single games and splitting doubleheaders with Dominican and Philadelphia. Sophomore Omar Velazquez pitched a four-hitter in a 10-0 victory over Dominican on Apr. 10. Sophomore Adric Saxon hit a grand slam against Philadelphia on Apr. 12, the second grand slam of his career.
Felician - Junior IF Dave Schoer has three game-winning hits in the last two weeks, including two in extra innings last week. Freshman P Joe Brescia tied the school single-season record for saves (5) with two last week. Freshman 2B Mickey Zudonyi picked up his first career HR and sophomore P Jeff Calabrese his first career base hit in Saturday's Game 2 win at Bloomfield. Senior P Nick Riker made the first relief appearance of his two-year Felician career on Sunday (following 15 starts), coming back on two days rest after winning a start to pitch five innings and earn another victory in the Golden Falcons' 11-inning triumph at Post. Felician went 13 consecutive games without reaching double figures in hits before posting 12, 13, and 15 in three weekend contests.
Philadelphia - The Rams have won five of their last six games, and eight of their last 11 outings.
USP - The Devils advanced to the championship games of the Philadelphia area Bill Giles Invitational for the first time since 2004, playing at Citizen's Bank Park (the home of the Philadelphia Phillies) with the Devils losing a tough contest to West Chester University (ranked #8 nationally) 7-6. USP's four CACC wins doubles its total from the 2007 season.
