SAXON, SENNA AND LAROCCO CLAIM CACC BASEBALL WEEKLY HONONRS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Adric Saxon of Caldwell College has claimed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Week honors in games through Sunday, March 2. Felician College right-hander B.J. Senna was named Pitcher of the Week and USP's Peter LaRocco earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
Saxon, a 6-1 sophomore outfielder from Coral Springs, FL, hit .450 with seven runs batted in, four runs scored and one home run in a 3-2 week. He collected three hits in two games, including a 3-for-4 effort against Molloy with one home run, six RBI and two doubles. He also notched three hits and drove in a run in a 4-3 win over Mercy.
Senna, a 6-0 junior right-hander from Wallingford, CT, did not allow an earned run in 5.0 innings of work in earning a victory over Dowling. He struck out five batters and gave up only four hits.
LaRocco, a 6-0 freshman designated hitter from Sewell, NJ, hit .500 with one home run, seven RBI and three runs scored in four games. He notched at least one hit and one RBI in all four games. He went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a home run in an 8-7 win over Gannon.
Honorable Mention
Michael Curry, USP (Sr., OF, 6-4, Collegeville, PA) - Hit .500 in four games with a home run, six runs and six RBI.
Erin Hines, Caldwell (Jr., RHP, 6-2, Milltown, NJ) - Went 7.2 innings and allowed only four hits and one earned run in a win over Molloy. Fanned six in the game.
Marcos Torres, Felician (So., C, 6-0, Miami, FL) - Hit .500 for the week with four runs and three RBI.
Gabriel Molina, Caldwell (Fr., C/DH, 6-0, Bronx, NY) - Hit .389 with six RBI, three runs and a home run in five games.
CACC Notes
Caldwell - The Cougars went 3-2 at the Northeast Challenge in Myrtle Beach, S.C., losing to Dowling and 20th-ranked West Chester and defeating Molloy, Queens and Mercy. Sophomore outfielder Adric Saxon drove in six runs on a home run and two doubles in an 8-3 win over Molloy Feb. 23. Saxon, the national leader in RBIs per game last year, also singled home senior catcher Chris Chiarappa in the bottom of the 10th to beat Mercy Feb. 24. Caldwell, which received an at-large bid to last year's NCAA Division II Northeast Region Tournament, was ranked fifth in the NCBWA Northeast Region Preseason Poll.
Chestnut Hill - The Griffins won their first game in program history with a 7-5 defeat of Neumann College in the first game of a double-header on Sunday.
Felician- Junior CF Vinnie DiBenedetti earned his 100th career base hit during the 2007 CACC Tournament. He is believed to be the first Felician player to reach that milestone as a sophomore. Sophomore RHP Jeff Calabrese and senior RHP Scott VanEs combined for 15 strikeouts in Felician's season opening victory over Queens. Calabrese, the 2007 All-CACC relief pitcher, was making his first career start and fanned eight over five innings.
Philadelphia - The Rams open the season on Saturday, March 9, at home against No. 2 Franklin Pierce University.
USP - USP is off to its best start since the 1991 season. Michael Curry, Pete LaRocco and Chris Pino have all hit safely in all four games this season for the Devils.
