MUNOZ, SENNA AND WALTON EARN BASEBALL WEEKLY HONORS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Alex Munoz of Bloomfield College has garnered Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, March 23. B.J. Senna of Felician College was the choice for Pitcher of the Week and Tommy Walton of Chestnut Hill College was named Rookie of the Week.
Munoz, a senior center fielder from Perth Amboy, NJ, hit .571 in three games with one home run, six runs scored, two RBI and one stolen base last week. He also recorded a .667 on-base percentage. He scored two runs in each of the three games and homered in an 8-6 victory over Mercy.
Senna, a junior right-hander from Wallingford, CT, allowed only three hits (all singles) and no runs in 6.0 innings of work in a win over St. Michael's. He fanned eight batters en route to his second weekly award this season.
Walton, a 6-3 freshman right-hander from Levittown, PA, worked 7.0 innings against USP and allowed no earned runs and six hits while not walking a batter. He struck out 10 as Chestnut Hill won the game, 2-1.
Honorable Mention
Ryan Weber, Chestnut Hill (So., RHP, 6-0, Philadelphia, PA) - Earned a complete game shutout victory over USP in the first game of a DH by allowing only four hits and fanning two.
Philip Maher, USP (Sr., RHP, 6-3, Norristown, PA) - Suffered a tough 2-1 loss to Chestnut Hill. Allowed only one hit and no earned runs in 7.0 IP, while fanning six batters.
Tommy Murphy, Caldwell (Sr., SS, 6-0, Monroe, NY) - Hit .333 in five games with five runs scored, one RBI, one double and two stolen bases.
CACC Notes
Chestnut Hill - On March 21, the Chestnut Hill College baseball team won its first-ever Division II and CACC contest with a 3-0 win over the University of the Sciences in the first game of a conference doubleheader.
Caldwell - The Cougars went 0-5 during their trip to Tennessee despite holding the lead in four of the five games. Senior Tommy Murphy led the team with a .333 batting average while recording a hit in each game. Murphy has hit safely in all seven games in which he has played this season.
Felician- Felician is hitting .220 in eight wood-bat games and .279 in eight metal-bat games. The Golden Falcons' scored 11 first-inning runs in a 15-0 victory over St. Michael's on March 17. It was their first shutout since last May 3 against Bloomfield.
Post - After returning from Florida, the Post University baseball team played in only one game last week, falling to Molloy College, 5-3 on March 18. Senior right fielder Eric Rovinetti ripped a run scoring double, and junior first baseman Jim Conto laced a two-run single to account for the scoring for the Eagles. Junior Corey Huffine leads the team with a four-game hitting streak, while Rovinetti and Conto are each riding three-game streaks. The Eagles will have a pair of mid-week conference games against Caldwell at home on March 25 and at Dominican on March 27, before traveling to East Stroudsburg for a doubleheader on March 30.
