LIBRETTA, CASAL AND ETHERTON EARN BASEBALL WEEKLY AWARDS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Mike Libretta of Felician College has earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Week honors for games ending Sunday, March 16. Robert Casal of Caldwell College was tabbed Pitcher of the Week, while Chestnut Hill College freshman Dan Etherton was named Rookie of the Week.
Libretta, a junior right-fielder from Staten Island, NY, hit .444 for the week with a .583 on-base percentage, along with five runs scored, one RBI and one stolen base. He went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, one RBI and a stolen base against Minnesota-Duluth. He also scored three times and went 1-for-2 vs. Nebraska-Omaha.
Casal, a sophomore right-hander from Howard Beach, NY, earned a win against Queens College (N.Y.) by allowing no earned runs and three hits, while fanning 11 in 6.0 innings of work.
Etherton, a freshman outfielder from Princeton, NJ, hit .476 in seven games with four RBI, three runs scored, three doubles and four stolen bases. He collected two hits in three consecutive games, against PSU-Beaver and Mansfield.
Honorable Mention
Cameron Saienni, Wilmington (So., LHP, 5-10, Wilmington, DE) - Picked up a win against Pace by allowing only one run and five hits in 7.0 innings of work. Struck out five batters.
Hector Bello, Felician (Fr., SS, 5-11, Miami, FL) - Hit .444 in three games with three runs scored and three RBI.
Anderson Minyetti, Bloomfield (Fr., OF, Jersey City, NJ) - Hit .429 for the week with two RBI, two runs scored and one triple.
CACC Notes
Caldwell - The Cougars won a pair on in-region games last week, defeating Queens and C.W. Post to improve to 5-2 on the season. Sophomore Adric Saxon's sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth brought home senior Tommy Murphy for the go-ahead run in a 5-4 win over C.W. Post on Mar. 13. Caldwell, which plays six games in Tennessee this week, is ranked fifth in the latest NCWBA Northeast Region Poll.
Felician- Felician has played six consecutive games against regionally ranked opponents (based on NCBWA poll at time of game). Freshman P Joe Brescia picked up his first collegiate save in Game 2 against Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday night, striking out four batters in two innings. The Golden Falcons are averaging 7.0 hits in eight wood-bat games, and 10.7 hits in three metal-bat games. Senior P Nick Riker has Felician's last two complete games, a nine-inning win at USP in Game 1 on May 5, 2007, and a seven-inning loss in Game 1 versus Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday.
Philadelphia - The Rams dropped a hard-fought 10-8 decision at West Chester in the semifinals of the 2008 Bill Giles Invitational. This week, the team travels to the Peach State to play six games in four days against Georgia Southwestern State University, Georgia College at State University and West Georgia University.
