NEW CASTLE, DE - Wilmington College is pleased to announce that Kim Lawrence (Fr/McKean HS/Wilmington, DE) and Jason Rust (Sr/Woodbridge HS/Greenwood, DE) have been named Wildcat Athletes of the Month for March.

Kim Lawrence, a freshman pitcher on the softball team, has started off her collegiate career on a torrid pace. The hurler went an astounding 9-1 during the month of March, with a sparkling 1.34 ERA and two saves. Lawrence won her first seven games before suffering her only defeat of the month. She has thrown nine complete games, including two shutout victories. In 68 innings pitched, Kim has struck out 52 while walking only 11. Opponents are hitting only .218 off of her, and her nine wins and ERA are tops in the CACC. Her best performances came in back-to-back shutouts of USP and Bloomfield. She held the Devils to just two hits, and followed that with a six-hit, eight strikeout performance against the Deacons. Lawrence was named CACC Pitcher of the Week on March 12th and CACC Rookie of the Week on April 2nd. Kim currently has a 20 consecutive scoreless inning streak, and has helped the Wildcats off to a 4-2 record in the CACC and an 11-5 record overall.

Jason Rust, a senior outfielder on the men's baseball team has started off the season with some impressive numbers. Rust hit .300 (21-70) during the month of March, while slugging at a .657 clip. He has scored 15 runs and knocked in a team-leading 25 RBIs. Jason has amassed 13 extra-base hits, including six home runs. His best performances came in a 14-6 win over Dowling College when he was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two home runs, and five RBIs. In a 13-9 victory over Millersville University, Jason was 3for-4 with four runs scored, three home runs, and six RBIs. The senior has helped the Wildcats off to a 2-1 start in the CACC, an overall record of 13-6, and a seventh place ranking in the Northeast Region.
