NEW HAVEN, CT - Jason Rust of Wilmington College has been selected as the Baseball Player of the Week in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) for the week ending Sunday, March 11. Fellow Wildcat Mike Mundy is the choice for Pitcher of the Week. Rookie of the Week accolades have been given to Jeff Calabrese of Felician College.

Rust, a 6-1 senior outfielder from Greenwood, DE, hit .333 and belted two home runs in seven games for the Wildcats last week. He drove in six runs, scored four times and also had three doubles. He went 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBI in a 13-5 win over Dowling.


Mundy, a 6-1 senior right-hander from Newark, DE, collected a win and a save last week while not allowing a run in 8.0 innings of work. He went 7.0 innings and allowed five hits with seven strikeouts in a win over Northwood and also saved a game against Dowling while fanning one batter.

Calabrese, a freshman right-hander from Freehold, NJ, went 1-1 in three relief appearances last week. He earned a victory over Nyack after a perfect three innings of work to go with three strikeouts. He did not allow an earned run and fanned five in 4.1 innings for the week.

Honorable Mention

Ray Rose, Felician - Hit .393 in a 2-6 week for the Golden Falcons. Hit one home run and drove in six.

John Brady, Felician - Went 1-0 in two appearances last week. Defeated Mercy after allowing only two hits and no runs in five innings.

Brendan Wyman, Post - Pitched a complete game shutout at Clarion and allowed only five hits while fanning four.

CACC Notes

Felician- Six of Felician's eight victories this season have been posted by relief pitchers. Freshman Jeff Calabrese is 3-1 and sophomore Anthony Spina 2-0 out of the bullpen and senior Kevin Barrett also has a win in relief. Spina has 10 appearances in the Golden Falcons' 19 games. Calabrese has allowed three hits (and nine total baserunners) in 13 innings. Senior 1B Frank Quintana has had 15 of 32 base hits go for extra bases. With 19 homeruns, Felician is more than halfway to last year's school-record total of 35.
