April 9, 2007

NEW HAVEN, CT - Nicolas Cucchiarella of Bloomfield College has been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, April 8. Cucchiarella, a sophomore catcher from Katonah, NY, hit .800 (8-for-10) in a 3-0 week for the Deacons. He went 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI in a victory over Wilmington Tuesday. In a double-header sweep at American International College, he went 5-for-7 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Gleason, a right-hander from Hollywood, FL, hurled a complete-game in handing league-rival Dominican its first conference loss of the season. He went 9.0 innings and allowed eight hits and three runs while fanning seven. He walked just one batter.

Torres, a freshman from Miami, FL, hit .333 for the week and hit his first career home run against Caldwell on Tuesday. He finished that game 1-for-4 with a run and two RBI. He drove in four runs for the week.
