CUCCHIARELLA AND GLEASON EARN CACC BASEBALL WEEKLY AWARDS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Nicolas Cucchiarella of Bloomfield College has been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, April 8. Billy Gleason of Nyack College was chosen Pitcher of the Week and Marcos Torres of Felician College was the pick for Rookie of the Week.

Cucchiarella, a sophomore catcher from Katonah, NY, hit .800 (8-for-10) in a 3-0 week for the Deacons. He went 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI in a victory over Wilmington Tuesday. In a double-header sweep at American International College, he went 5-for-7 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Gleason, a right-hander from Hollywood, FL, hurled a complete-game in handing league-rival Dominican its first conference loss of the season. He went 9.0 innings and allowed eight hits and three runs while fanning seven. He walked just one batter.

Torres, a freshman from Miami, FL, hit .333 for the week and hit his first career home run against Caldwell on Tuesday. He finished that game 1-for-4 with a run and two RBI. He drove in four runs for the week.

Honorable Mention

Andy Chunn, Wilmington - Hit .438 in a 4-2 week with one home run, six RBI and three runs scored.

Chris Flynn, Felician - Hit .467 in a 2-2 week with three doubles, four RBI's and five runs scored.

Joe O'Donnell, Bloomfield - Pitched a seven inning complete-game shutout against AIC. In 7.0 innings, allowed six hits while fanning seven and walking three batters.

CACC Notes

Felician - Sophomore 3B Dave Schoer hit a game-winning homerun with two-out in the bottom of the 11th inning on Thursday, breaking a 7-7 tie versus Molloy. Senior 1B Frank Quintana became the first player in program history with 25 career homers, reaching the milestone in Game 1 at Post on Saturday.

Philadelphia - The Rams' win over the University of the Sciences on April 3rd at home earned a trip to the championship game of the 2007 Bill Giles Invitational. The Rams will face the winner of West Chester University/Wilmington College in the championship game on Tuesday, April 10th at Citizen's Bank Ballpark, the home of the Philadelphia Phillies.
