HECK NAMED CACC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR THE SECOND TIME

NEW HAVEN, CT - Keith Heck of Philadelphia University has been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 1. Joseph Catanese of Dominican College has been tabbed Pitcher of the Week, while Rookie of the Week accolades has been given to Richard Melendez of Felician College.
Heck, a senior first baseman from Cherry Hill, NJ, enjoyed an outstanding week for the Rams. He hit .458 for the week with a .1333 slugging percentage. He smacked seven home runs in six games, drove in 15 runs and scored nine times. He hit two home runs in a win over Nyack and drove in four runs twice. He notched at least one RBI in each game.
Catanese, a senior right-hander from Huntington, NY, picked up two wins last week, one as a starter and one in relief. He went 7.2 innings against USP and fanned nine while allowing three runs on Saturday. He earned a win in relief against Felician on Monday, hurling 2.2 innings, fanning five and allowing one run. He did not walk a batter during the week.
Melendez, a freshman infielder from Miami, FL, hit .480 in six games with a .480 on-base percentage. He drove in eight runs, including four in a 12-11 win over Wilmington. He scored twice, hit three doubles and stole one base.
Honorable Mention
Sean Brown, Dominican - Hit .391 in a 5-0 week for the Chargers. Stole seven bases, drove in six runs and scored four times. Also hit three doubles.
Brian Testa, Wilmington - Hit .389 in a 4-1 week for the Wildcats. Hit one home run, two doubles, five RBI's, scored eight times and stole one base.
CACC Notes
Felician - Sophomore catcher Jordan Noval was 7 for 11 in three starts over the weekend (including one at DH) after entering Saturday 4 for 22 (.181) on the season.
Philadelphia - Senior first-baseman Keith Heck has moved into a second-place tie for career homeruns at Philadelphia University, tying former All-Region shortstop Evan Kiesel with 19. The all-time leader is former Toronto Blue Jays and St. Louis Cardinals pitcher and former Rams' All-America Bob File with 37. Heck has also moved into the top ten in career hits with 182, ranking eighth all-time.
Post - Post enters the week riding a three-game winning streak after sweeping St. Michael's College in a three-game series at Municipal Stadium. The Eagles will host Dominican College on Monday, travel to UMass.-Lowell on Tuesday, and travel to Caldwell on Thursday before playing at Bridgeport in a makeup game on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, the Eagles will host Felician College in a conference twinbill.
USP - With his two hits on Saturday, Michael DeVincenzo moved into 10th place on the Devils' all-time hits list with 96 for his career. With four stolen bases on the week, Phil Maher moves into 10th place on the all-time stolen base list with 16 for his career. Meade Palmer is the all-time leader with 31.
