NEW HAVEN, CT - Wilmington College and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) are pleased to announce that Wildcat baseball standout, Jason Rust (Woodbridge HS/Greenwood, DE), was named to the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division II All-America First Team for his performance this past season. The ABCA's All-America committee released the team on Sunday in conjunction with the 40th NCAA Division II Baseball Championship being played at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Alabama.

Rust, a senior outfielder who led the Wildcats in almost every offensive category, finished the year hitting .360 with 47 runs scored and 62 RBIs. A first team All-CACC and All-Northeast Region selection, he led the conference in home runs (21), RBIs, slugging percentage (.789), was second in total bases (138), and finished third in runs scored and hits (63).

Rust hit for the home-run cycle in a win over the University of the Sciences in April. He blasted two-run, solo and three-run homers and finishing off with a grand slam to key a six-run outburst in the bottom of the eighth inning. He finished the game with five runs scored and an astounding 10 runs batted in.

Rust becomes the first Wildcat baseball player in school history to earn First-Team All-America honors since Wilmington made the move to NCAA Division II in 2004.

The Wildcats, CACC Tournament Champions, finished the regular season with a 10-6 record in the CACC, and an overall record of 29-20. They earned the school's first berth in the NCAA Northeast Regional Tournament, and were ranked as high as fifth in the region.
