NEW HAVEN, CT - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its All-Region team for the Northeast on Wednesday afternoon and nine players from Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schools earned spots on the squad. Caldwell College outfielder Adric Saxon highlighted the CACC selections by being named the region's Rookie of the Year. In addition to Saxon, four other CACC players were named to the first team.

Joining Saxon on the first team were Felician College first baseman Frank Quintana, Dominican College shortstop Jose Made and outfielder Jason Rust and starting pitcher Joe Matterer of Wilmington College. Second team picks included Wilmington utility player Brian Testa and pitcher Kenny McGrady, Caldwell pitcher Robert Casal and Nyack College pitcher Billy Gleason.

This is the third All-Region team for Saxon, who was selected to the ABCA/Rawlings and Daktronics All-Region second teams earlier this month. In his first collegiate season, Saxon led the Cougars with 13 home runs and 62 runs batted in while batting .365 in 40 games. The Coral Springs, FL native was a first team All-CACC pick and was also the conference Rookie of the Year.

Quintana, a senior from Miami, FL, was the 2007 CACC Player of the Year and a first team All-Conference selection. Quintana finished the season hitting .405 with 77 hits and 59 RBI. His 77 hits included 36 extra-base hits and 16 home runs. He led the CACC in on-base percentage (.504), runs scored (59), hits (77), doubles (19) and was second in batting average and home runs.

Rust was a Rawlings/ABCA first team All-America pick after leading the Wildcats in almost every offensive category. He finished the year hitting .360 with 47 runs scored and 62 RBIs. A first team All-CACC and All-Northeast Region selection, he led the conference in home runs (21), RBIs, slugging percentage (.789), was second in total bases (138), and finished third in runs scored and hits (63).

Made, a sophomore from Binghamton, NY, started 36 of 38 games this season and led the Chargers with a .338 batting average, 49 hits, 38 RBIs and 10 doubles. He was tied for first on the team with three triples and was tied for the lead in home runs with four. He was a perfect 11-11 in stolen bases and finished the year with a .931 fielding percentage.

Testa, a junior, hit .315 with seven home runs, 45 RBI, 43 runs scored and 14 doubles en route to first team All-CACC honors along with second team Daktronics All-Region accolades.

Casal, a first team All-CACC choice, also made the ABCA/Rawlings and Daktronics All-Region second teams after leading Caldwell in victories (10), earned run average (3.74), innings pitched (74 2/3) and strikeouts (75) as a freshman.

Gleason, a senior from Hollywood, FL, was tabbed CACC Pitcher of the Year and ranked third the conference in strikeouts with 70 in 69.1 innings pitched. He went 5-1 in conference play during the season and was 5-3 overall. He was also named second team All-Region by Daktronics.

McGrady, a senior from Rising Sun, MD, finished the season with a 4-5 record and led the conference with 93 strikeouts in 94 innings of work. He was a second team All-CACC selection.
