CALDWELL'S TORRES NAMED NJCBA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

CALDWELL, NJ - Caldwell College freshman outfielder Jorge Torres (Coral Springs, FL/Taravella) was named the Rookie of the Week by the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association for the week ending Mar. 26, the organization announced Tuesday. Torres, who was chosen the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week on Mar. 13, hit .435 with seven runs batted in and five runs in six games for the Cougars (5-10) last week.

Torres had four multi-hit games as the Cougars went 4-2 in the games he played, with two hits each in wins over Oakland City University and Hillsdale College. He also went 3-for-3 with two runs and four RBI in a 15-14 loss to Southern New Hampshire. After going 2 for 4 with three runs at the plate in Caldwell's 11-4 win at Molloy College yesterday, Torres is batting .333 in his first collegiate season.

Torres and the Cougars host CACC foe N.J.I.T. in Caldwell's home opener on Wednesday, Mar. 29. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Smith Field in Parsippany, N.J.
