CACC BASEBALL WEEKLY RELEASE

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

PETE GILARDO, DOMINICAN (So, C, 6-0, 200, Cornwall, N.Y.)  Was named the Most Valuable Player of the CACC Tournament. Went 8 for 12 with five runs scored in the championship, and 8 for 15 with a .588 on-base percentage in a 3-1 week for the Chargers.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

BRET URBAN, WILMINGTON (Jr, L, 5-0, Bear, Del.)  Pitched a nine-inning four-hitter in the Wildcats’ first-round CACC Tournament victory over top-seeded NJIT. Allowed one earned run, struck out 10 batters and walked none. Was named to the all-tournament team.

HONOR ROLL

CHRIS LEGIADRE, NJIT (Jr, P, 6-0, 205, Manalapan, N.J.)  Did not allow an earned-run in a nine-inning complete-game CACC Tournament victory over Caldwell. Allowed seven singles, struck out seven and walked none.
DAN LUPO, NJIT (Sr, CF, 6-0, 205, West Milford, N.J.)  Went 9 for 18 with five runs scored in four games in the CACC Tournament. Was named to the all-tournament team.
MATT DILGEN, DOMINICAN (Sr, P, 5-11, 170, Staten Island, N.Y.)  Tossed a nine-inning five-hitter in the Chargers’ second round CACC victory over Wilmington. Allowed one earned run and struck out five in being named all-tournament.
JOE CATENACCI, CALDWELL (Sr, OF, 5-9, 170, Helmetta, N.J.)  Hit .412 (7 for 17) with four runs scored and a .523 on-base percentage in four games of a 3-2 week for the Cougars.

NOTES

NJIT: NJIT finished as the runner-up in the CACC Tournament for the second consecutive year. The Highlanders have applied for an ECAC berth, and would need two wins to set the school record for victories (23, 2004).
