NEWARK, N.J. ? Kwesi Mitchell of Piscataway, a junior right-fielder for New Jersey Institute of Technology, has been named New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association Division II/III Co-Player of the Week, the NJCBA announced today.

Mitchell went 9 for 16 (.563) in a 3-1 week for NJIT, including 7 for 11 in a three-game weekend sweep of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. He had three doubles and a triple to slug .875, scored four runs, drove in two, and stole two bases. He was also named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll.

On Sunday, Mitchell?s second-inning triple against USP was the 100th base hit of his career. He became the eighth player in program history to reach that milestone. He leads NJIT in hitting at .365. NJIT (19-12) sits in first place in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with a 17-3 league record.
