Delaware Edges Goldey-Beacom for GBC Spring Invitational Crown

WILMINGTON, DE ? Mike McLister shot a 69 (-3) to lead the University of Delaware Blue golf team to a first place finish at the 2005 Goldey-Beacom College Spring Invitational at Hartefeld National Golf Club (par 72) Monday afternoon in Pennsylvania.

The Blue Hens Blue Team finished with a team score of 306, which was four strokes lower than the Lightning, who finished at 310. The University of Delaware Gold team was next in third place with a team score of 312, followed by Pace University at 326, Wilmington College at 338, LeMoyne College at 339, Adelphi University at 342 and Swarthmore College at 347.

Goldey-Beacom College junior Mike Tobiason (Wilmington, DE) finished at -2 (70) to take second place while Tyler Kupper of the University of Delaware Gold Team finished in third place with a score of 72.

Junior Nick Nardo (Newark, DE) was next for the Lightning in fifth place at +5 (77), followed by sophomore Steve Cutler (Kennett Square, PA) in 11th place at +8 (80), freshman Mark Agnew (Newark, DE) in a tie for 18th place at +11 (83) and senior Chris Ciupinski (Ocean Township, NJ) in a tie for 24th place at +13 (85).

Other finishers for the Lightning included senior Mike Clair (Landenberg, PA) and junior Steve Connell (Elkton, MD) in a tie for 28th place at +14 (86), sophomore David Pfotzer (Newark, DE) in a tie for 31st place at 88, senior Adam Blood (Selbyville, DE) in a tie for 36th place at +19 (91), and senior Shawn Ganow (Cochranville, PA) in 42nd place at +26 (98).
