CALDWELL, N.J. - Five Caldwell College baseball players were included on the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association's All-State teams for Division II/III, the organization announced today. Senior Hasani Whitfield (Briarwood, NY/Molloy) and junior Nick Mauro (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) were named first team all-state, seniors Mike Kolesar (New City, NY/Clarkstown North) and Ryan McGee (Cedarhurst, NY/Lawrence) made the second team, and freshman Eric Hines (Milltown, NJ/Spotswood) was chosen to the all-Rookie team.

Whitfield, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's Player of the Year, led the Cougars in batting (.366), hits (56), doubles (14), home runs (six) and runs batted in (41). The outfielder was named the CACC Player of the Week on Mar. 22, and he opened the season with at least one hit in 22 of the Cougars' first 24 games, including a 15-game hitting streak. Mauro batted .354 with three homers and 34 RBI in his first season at Caldwell after transferring from Fairleigh Dickinson in Teaneck, N.J. The Cougars' designated hitter was an all-CACC second team selection and made the all-Tournament team after going 4-for-7 in two games at the CACC Tournament.

Kolesar an outfielder and pitcher for Caldwell who made the all-state team as a utility player, turned in a .293 batting average while stealing a team-best 24 bases. As a pitcher, the right-hander went 4-5 with an earned run average of 5.09. The first-team all-CACC choice was named the ECAC and CACC Pitcher of the Week on May 3. McGee matched Whitfield for the team-lead with six homers while batting .338 with 33 RBI. The first-team all-CACC second-baseman committed just six errors in 153 chances for a fielding percentage of .961.

Hines, the CACC co-Newcomer of the Year, pitched four complete games in seven starts while tossing three shutouts. He went 6-3 with an ERA of 2.66 in his first collegiate season, striking out 37 in 50 2/3 innings.

All members of the NJCBA All-State teams are eligible to play in the NJCBA All-Star Game on Monday, May 30 at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, N.J. The NJCBA Awards Banquet will be held on Tuesday, May 31 in Edison, N.J.
