CACC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

BILLY RYAN, CALDWELL (So, 3B, 5-10, 195, Toms River, N.J.) Led Caldwell to a 5-1 week (5-0 in games he started) by going 10 for 16 (.625) at the plate and slugging .813. Hit .727 (8-11) with four runs scored and three runs batted in during a three-game sweep of Post. Scored the tying run in seventh inning of series? final game.

CACC PITCHER OF THE WEEK

JOE MATTERER, WILMINGTON (Fr, R, 5-11, 190, Newark, Del.) Tossed a seven-inning two-hitter in a 3-1 road win versus first-place and regionally-ranked NJIT on Saturday, striking out three batters while walking none. Also had one scoreless inning in a loss to regionally-ranked West Chester.

HONOR ROLL

CORY KUZMIK, NJIT (Fr, P, 6-2, 180, Teaneck, N.J.) Struck out 15 batters and walked none and had a .103 opponent batting average in two appearances. Threw a seven-inning three-hitter with 11 strikeouts in a win over Wilmington

HERBERT GRIFFIN, NYACK (Jr, RF, 6-1, Chesapeake, Va.) Went 10 for 17 (.588) with four multiple-hit games and scored nine runs in a 1-3 week for the Warriors.

MIKE KOLESAR, CALDWELL (Sr, P, 6-1, 183, New City, N.Y.) Tossed eight scoreless innings in a win over Post, striking out five and walking one while yielding seven hits.

MATT DUTCH, BLOOMFIELD (Jr, C, 6-1, 180, Eatontown, N.J.) In four games, batted .500 (8 for 16) with a double, a homerun, five runs and nine RBI as the Deacons went 2-2.

NOTES

CC: Senior IF Fadul Bambino went 10 for 23 (.435) with 10 RBI and six runs last week, raising his batting average 73 points (.267 to .340). Bambino hadn?t driven in a run all season until last week, when he had two RBI in five of the Cougars? six games. The Cougars are currently riding a season-best four-game win streak. Caldwell scored 69 runs in six games last week for an average of 11.5 runs per game. The total does not include seven runs in a suspended game against Nyack. In 21 games before last week, the Cougars averaged 4.8 runs per game.

NJIT: Senior C Phil Resciniti became the seventh player in program history to record 100 career hits. Freshman IF Chris Cardone hit a pinch-hit homer in only his fourth at-bat of the season, his first homerun at any level since hitting two in the international championship game of the 1998 Little League World Series playing for Toms River (N.J.).. Junior P Chris Legiadre had his scoreless innings streak ended at 19 by Wilmington on Friday. Freshman P Cory Kuzmik has 19 strikeouts and no walks in 12 2/3 conference innings.

USP: The Devils won their sixth conference game of the season on Saturday, their most as a member of the CACC
